As a major service provider to IT industry leaders such as Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Sony NCSS Maintenance Services has contractual obligations to develop and maintain strict adherence of OH&S and ISO 9000 policies in the workplace.
Coupled with the fact that operating guidelines from suppliers and internal departments varied greatly, induction, training and distribution of business processes was a critical and costly exercise.
An exercise that wasn't conducted efficiently and effectively until the introduction of Business Control
Debbie Dudman HR Manager at NCSS says "Business Control was developed for a number of key reasons. First, we needed a system to store all our policies online in a central database, then a way to distribute them and identify that they had actually been read.
We needed to identify areas of weakness - where training was required quickly - this was enabled through the ability to develop our own online examinations in minutes.
Finally and most importantly, there was an immediate need to reduce our liability with regards to OH&S compliance.
After following all the rules, we still found ourselves liable! We had a manual system to prove the employee had received a new or updated policy, however in some cases testing their understanding was logistically impossible. This was all a disgruntled employee needed and alot of unnecessarily wasted time was spent in court.
We decided to never again leave NCSS exposed in such a way, Simply were called in and proposed the solution to our problem".
